Yo MDS, let’s see Eva pull off emotion with depth like this.
Evan Longoria was pulled before the Sixth Inning of Saturday’s ballgame because of a sore oblique. Longo expects to be back in a week, but a trip to the DL hasn’t been ruled out yet. The (Devil) Rays lineup doesn’t have as much bite without the suffering Longoria and departed Carl Crawford and Carlos Pena. The lineup (Zobrist, Damon, Upton, Manny, Johnson, Joyce, Rodriguez, Jaso, Brignac) has been shut down by Jeremy Guthrie and Chris Tillman and could make for an easy target. Upcoming matchups include:
Sunday vs Zach Britton, BAL Making his Major League debut on Sunday, Britton will look to continue the Orioles dominance of the Rays lineup. Britton makes a name for himself with his Groundball rate. According to FirstInning, Britton’s GB% has been at or above 64% from low A-ball to AAA. However, his minor league K/9 and BB/9 won’t be very useful in 2011. Expect a below-average K/9 and BB/9. I give this matchup a 6 out of 10 on a scale for streamibility.
Tuesday vs Jered Weaver, LAA
Wednesday vs Dan Haren, LAA
Thursday at Edwin Jackson, CHW The Rays travel and take up residence in the home of former Ray, Edwin Jackson. I like Jackson if he has the Walks under control and gets ahead in the count more often. The adjustments, pitch coach, Don Cooper made to Jackson’s mechanics may very well mean the hard-throwing Righty will be relevant to the fantasy community once again. Edwin is owned in 49% of Yahoo! leagues. I like this matchup, I give it an 8.0 out of 10.
Friday at John Danks, CHW
Saturday at Gavin Floyd CHW I like the Floyd, I do. As long as it looks like his shoulder isn’t bothering him, I think he should be owned in more than 49% of Yahoo! leagues. Floyd brings to the table a K/9 and BB/9 that are better than league average. Last season, despite the ups and down, he posted a career best for LD% and HR/FB% allowed. I would use a healthy Floyd against the depleted Rays lineup. This matchup score a 8.25 out of 10.
