Make friends with Chandler this week

After a one week hiatus, “Don’t Sleep” is back. Sorry for all of you that came to the site expecting to see a post last week, but the Thanksgiving holiday made it tough to get on a computer and write a piece. Since we don’t have any players from last week to recap, let’s hop right into the picks for Week 13. The following players are owned in fewer than 30-percent of ESPN leagues after the week’s waiver claims have already processed.
More after the jump:
Quarterbacks for Week 13
Vince Young (PHI) 9 percent owned: Michael Vick is going to be out again this week, giving fantasy owners one last chance to squeeze Vince Young for everything he is worth. Coming off a 400 yard passing performance, Young should have plenty of confidence playing against a Seattle team that is coming off a loss to the lowly Redskins. When you also factor in Young’s ability to run, he could be a top ten quarterback this week.
Dan Orlovsky (IND) 0 percent owned: Indianapolis is moving on to their third starting quarterback of the year. Orlovsky is scheduled to make his first start this season and he actually might be the most intriguing quarterback the Colts have played all year. In his first start, he is drawing a tasty matchup with a weak Patriots secondary. Orvlosky has actually shown some ability when he gets playing time and he could be an option as an injury fill-in.
Running Backs for Week 13
Toby Gerhart (MIN) 24 percent owned: Percy Harvin does pose a legit threat for touches as a change of pace back, but Gerhart will get all of the goal line touches after Harvin failed on his opportunities in the red zone last week. Gerhart is the type of runner that can handle a heavy workload and his coaches should be more than willing to give him all the touches he can handle on a team with a rookie quarterback that has its top weapons dropping like flies. Something like 75 yards and a touchdown is easily achievable for Toby this week, making him a decent option as a flex.
Donald Brown (IND) 16 percent owned: Brown is doing a decent job in his role as the number one back in Indy and he is the clear goal line back when the opportunity presents itself. Indy’s offense is horrible, but Donald Brown should get enough chances to at least give owners some fantasy value. 15 carries for about 80 yards and a score is what I am expecting.
Wide Receivers for Week 13
Damian Williams (TEN) 8 percent owned: Williams has three touchdowns in Tennessee’s last four games. Pair that with the fact that Buffalo has been horrible on defense as of late and this has the makings of a perfect deep sleeper. We all know that a touchdown is where the money is at in fantasy football and Williams has a great chance of finding the end zone again. My prediction calls for five catches, 70 yards, and a TD.
Nate Burleson (DET) 17 percent owned: I wanted to put Doug Baldwin in this spot because of his matchup with an injury-filled Eagles secondary and the fact that he received a ton of targets last week, but I figured you are all sick of hearing about him. Burleson has been a great number two receiver in “real-life” football, but he hasn’t been a huge asset in fantasy because of the lack of touchdowns. I am expecting him to have a bit of a breakout this week. Expect him to find the end zone and garner about seven catches for 90 yards.
Tight Ends for Week 13
Scott Chandler (BUF) 28 percent owned: If someone put a gun to my head and told me to pick one tight end sleeper that would break out this week, I would pick Scott Chandler. Buffalo is always playing from behind and throwing the ball a shit-ton because of their horrible defense, and Chandler has been more involved in the passing game lately. Pair that with the fact that their running game virtually disappeared when Fred Jackson went down for the year with a broken leg and you have an unbalanced offense that should give the receiving weapons a little bit of a fantasy boost. My prediction for Chandler would be four catches for around 50 yards and one-to-two touchdowns.
So there you have it guys. Those are my deep sleepers for Week 13. If you want to point out anyone that you think I missed or want to argue with me about some of my picks, I would love to hear from you in the comments section below or on Twitter @JessePotes.
