Too Soon?

At “Stream Pies,” we are serving up gooey loads of knowledge. Here, we’ll provide invaluable streaming advice on kickers and DEF teams who are owned in less than 30-percent of Yahoo! leagues. We list the options in order of best option to “least-best” option (with the strongest recommendations starting at the top). Below our recommendations are last week’s and full season results. Points are based on default Yahoo! settings.

Sleeper isn’t available this week, so your boy is tackling “Stream Pies” dolo. That’s right, this edition of “Stream Pies” will be all Kid Clutch, so get that lube ready, because you’re about to be Star-boned.

Kicker Recommendations
In sticking with Million Dollar Sleeper’s approach, we’re looking for quality kickers with strong team scoring potential who are playing in favorable weather conditions. The ideal offense for our purposes would be a high octane pass-heavy offense that lacks a run game (especially close yardage). Let’s get it:

Week Five Results (Points calculated with Yahoo! default settings)
Lawrence Tynes (vs. SEA): 5 points
Nick Novak (at DEN): 19 points
Mike Nugent (at JAC): 7 points
Ryan Longwell (vs. ARI): 12 points
Average for top ranked K in Y! scoring: 11.6 (Jason Hanson)
Average for “Stream Pies:” 10.8

Week Six Recommendations
1- Mike Nugent (vs. IND)
2- Olindo Mare (@ATL)
3- Rian Lindell (at NYG)
4- Billy Cundiff (vs. HOU)
5- Connor Barth (vs. NO)

Team Defense (DEF) Recommendations
The Bengals came through with a TD and a pair of turnovers Sunday, but the Cardinals were inexcusably killed by the Vikings, effectively putting Arizona on Starbonell’s “Never Stream Again” list. Worry not, we’ll absolve the awful ARI recommendation with some gems for Week Six.

Week Five Results (Points calculated with Yahoo! default settings)
Cincinnati Bengals: 20 points allowed, 3 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, TD = 14 points
Arizona Cardinals: 34 points allowed, 1 sack, 1 fumble recovery = 2 points
Average for top ranked DEF in Y! scoring: 18.75 (Baltimore Ravens)
Average for “Stream Pies:” 8.6

Week Six Recommendations
Oakland Raiders vs. CLE
Still riding the “Al Davis is dead” high, expect the Raiders to put the clamp down on Cleveland. Oakland has the personnel to score on special teams and they haven’t done so yet in 2011. Really though, this pick on “Stream Pies” is more based on the fact that the Raiders are getting great pressure on opposing QBs and are facing an easy-to-defend short-field offense in Cleveland.

Buffalo Bills @NYG
Okay, you don’t want to straight up gamble that a team will score a return TD, but the Giants are renowned for misplays on special teams and the Bills (who have some great return options) are due. Also, I expect Buffalo to lean heavily on Fred Jackson to wear down the clock and the Giants’ opportunities to score. I’ll admit this is one that could blow up in my face since Eli Manning is playing at such a high level, but the Bills have playmakers on their defense so I’m liking the odds of a strong fantasy performance.

Washington Redskins vs. PHI
How the mighty have fallen. The Eagles have turned the ball over a lot and with the heavy-blitzking ‘Skins on deck, that doesn’t figure to change in Week Six. Washington also has players who can bring a turnover back for a score and they should be a great stream option for Sunday.
