Stream Pies: Week 10

After dusting off Matt Cassel, Miami should be able to rough up John Beck

At “Stream Pies,” we are serving up gooey loads of knowledge. Here, we’ll provide invaluable streaming advice on kickers and DEF teams who are owned in less than 30-percent of Yahoo! leagues. We list the options in order of best option to “least-best” option (with the strongest recommendations starting at the top). Below our recommendations are last week’s and full season results. Points are based on default Yahoo! settings.

The surprises just keep on coming. The Miami f’ng Dolphins not only scored their first win of the season, but they did so in a difficult road environment against a team that had been streaking in the right direction. It’s admittedly been an up-and-down “Stream Pies” season thanks to inconsistent performances around the league, but as we enter the final weeks of the fantasy football season, things are starting to settle. These are the most critical weeks for you streamers out there, and we here at Sons of Roto are about to help you get that paper.

So getcha hot towels ready, because “Stream Pies” is about to explode on that ass.

Kicker Recommendations
When deciding on free agent kickers, you want to look for someone who is on a team that will move the ball, but has issues scoring TDs (i.e.- a team with a good passing game but a poor short-field running attack). A kicker’s skills and weather conditions are other factors to consider.

Week Nine Results (Points calculated with Yahoo! default settings)
Mike Nugent: 6 points
Shaun Suisham: 8 points
Rian Lindell: 3 points
Average for top ranked K in Y! scoring: 11 points per game (Billy Cundiff)
Average for “Stream Pies:” 9.13 points per recommendation

2- Dan Carpenter vs. WAS
3- Mike Nugent vs. PIT
4- Josh Scobee at IND

Team Defense (DEF) Recommendations
The Chiefs take the cake as the biggest “Stream Pies” disappointment ever. I knew this team was overrated, but to lose at home (in one of the noisiest places to play) against a winless Miami team is reprehensible. Kansas City: you’ve effectively made my “do not recommend” AND my “never visit” list. Congrats.

That atrocious performance helped to push our average score down to unacceptable levels, with the top defense in fantasy (the 49ers) besting us by more than double the amount of points per week. This has undoubtedly been a very difficult season to call in terms of defensive recommendations (with Sundays MIA vs. KC game representing the pinnacle of frustration), but I’m confident we’ll right the ship beginning this week. Bye weeks are virtually over and with a full slate of defenses to choose from, the pickings won’t be as slim. Let’s get it.

Week Nine Results (Points calculated with Yahoo! default settings)
Kansas City: 31 points allowed = -1 point
Washington Redskins: 19 points allowed, 2 sacks, fumble recovery = 5 points
St. Louis Rams: 19 points allowed, 3 sacks, 2 safeties = 8 points
Average for top ranked DEF in Y! scoring: 13.02 points per game (SF)
Average for “Stream Pies:” 6.4 points per recommendation

Week 10 Recommendations
St. Louis Rams at CLE
The Rams defense has played a lot better over the last two weeks and they’ll face a Cleveland team who is without their two best running backs and is struggling mightily to move the ball. The weather may also be unfavorable in Cleveland this weekend, improving the odds of this being a low-scoring affair.

Miami Dolphins vs. WAS
After making the Chiefs their bitch, the Dolphins “triumphantly” return home to take on the Redskins. Washington’s offensive line has been terrible to date and with the way Miami was able to get pressure on Matt Cassel, the Dolphins should have little trouble disrupting John Beck.
