Can he kick it? Yes he can

At “Stream Pies,” we are serving up gooey loads of knowledge. Here, we’ll provide invaluable streaming advice on kickers and DEF teams who are owned in less than 30-percent of Yahoo! leagues. We list the options in order of best option to “least-best” option (with the strongest recommendations starting at the top). Below our recommendations are last week’s and full season results. Points are based on default Yahoo! settings.

It was a truly disappointing week for our kickers and defenses in Week Eight. Matter of fact, it was a pretty wild and confusing Week Eight in general. Fortunately, your boy Stat Bundles is a pro at dusting his fine threads off and getting back to work, so expect a bounce back in predictions starting…. now.

Kicker Recommendations
When deciding on free agent kickers, you want to look for someone who is on a team that will move the ball, but has issues scoring TDs (i.e.- a team with a good passing game but a poor short-field running attack). A kicker’s skills and weather conditions are other factors to consider.

Week Eight Results (Points calculated with Yahoo! default settings)
Mike Nugent: 11 points
Ryan Longwell: 6 points
Josh Scobee: 2 points
Graham Gano: 0 points
Average for top ranked K in Y! scoring: 11.06 points (Jason Hanson)
Average for “Stream Pies:” 9.5 points

Week Nine Recommendations
1- Mike Nugent at TEN
2- Shaun Suisham vs. BAL
3- Rian Lindell vs. NYJ

Team Defense (DEF) Recommendations
It was slim pickings in Week Eight with few under-owned DEFs presenting intriguing fantasy matchups, and we proceeded to watch our recommendations fall on their face. Seattle pulled off a pair of turnovers, but Andy Dalton calmly did work in the loud settings of Qwest Field. The Browns? They weren’t able to get any pressure on Alex Smith and were gashed by Frank Gore en route to a very unproductive fantasy day. Fortunately, we’ve got some great matchups on tap for Week Nine that should prove very fortuitous for your streamers out there.

Week Eight Results (Points calculated with Yahoo! default settings)
Seattle Seahawks: 28 points allowed, 1 sack, 2 INTs = 4 points
Cleveland Browns: 20 points alowed, 1 sack = 2 points
Average for top ranked DEF in Y! scoring: 13.29 points per game (SF)
Average for “Stream Pies:” 6.82 points per game

Week Nine Recommendations
Kansas City vs. MIA
Arrowhead Stadium, as we saw on Monday night, is a bitch to play at. That stadium is louder than the moans that emanate out of the Starbonell Love Quarters. With the Chiefs continuing to play well and the hapless Dolphins coming to town, this has all the makings of a terrific fantasy performance.

Washington Redskins vs. SF
We’re picking on Alex Smith again. With the Redskins featuring a few playmakers who can transform turnovers into scores and a run defense that has been stout at times, they should throw a sizable wrench into the 49ers designs on clinching the NFC West before Thanksgiving.

St. Louis Rams vs. ARI
The Rams did a masterful job of getting Drew Brees off his game on Sunday. This week, they face Kevin Kolb and one of the leakiest offensive lines in football. While the Cardinals have shown the ability to put up points in a hurry lately, their running game is looking very sketchy with Beanie Wells banged up, so this matchup should make for some easy game-planning for Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo (a defensive whiz).
