Stream Pies: Week Four

Honestly, do you even know who the fuck this is?

At “Stream Pies,” we are serving up gooey loads of knowledge. Here, we’ll provide invaluable streaming advice on kickers and DEFs who are owned in less than 30-percent of Yahoo! leagues. We list the options in order of best to “least-best” option (with the strongest recommendations starting at the top). We also include last week’s suggestions and full season results. Points are based on default Yahoo! settings (with 0.5 points-per-reception).

For those of you out there who drafted a kicker or DEF any earlier than the last two rounds, guess who the leaders at those positions are through the first three weeks? I’ll give ya a hint: neither of these options were drafted in 12-team leagues.

Caleb Sturgis and the Kansas City defense sit atop the fantasy ranks, further proving the point that sticking with one defense or kicker all season is for the birds. It’s unlikely the current powerhouses at K and DEF will stick there all season, so there’s no better time than now to get your stream on if you haven’t already.

Team Defense (DEF) Recommendations

Week Four Recommendations
1 – New York Jets @TEN
The Jets have always put solid defenses on the team, but they usually lacked fantasy punch thanks to their inability to generate a pass rush. This season, however, they are getting past opposing O-lines with ease (12 sacks, four pass deflections, and 14 tackles for a loss). Their rush defense has also been among the best in football (3.07 YPC allowed). The Tennessee’s offense is modest at best, so I expect the Jets to put up a quality performance.

2 – Cleveland Browns vs. CIN

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the Browns defense is an underrated unit that you’ll probably see a good amount of here on Stream Pies. The Browns have defended well against the pass and the run. Even the great Adrian Peterson averaged a mere 3.52 YPC last week against them. With a meh-worthy Andy Dalton (four turnovers in three games) and a run game that is still holding back Giovani Bernard, the Browns have a relatively favorable matchup.
