Stream Pies: Week Six

At “Stream Pies,” we are serving up gooey loads of knowledge. Here, we’ll provide invaluable streaming advice on kickers and DEFs who are owned in less than 30-percent of Yahoo! leagues. We list the options in order of best to “least-best” option (with the strongest recommendations starting at the top). We also include last week’s suggestions and full season results. Points are based on default Yahoo! settings.

My highest recommended defensive team (Miami) came up with a nice 12 point performance, but the damn Bills and Falcons both choked in the national spotlight. Ah well, at least I can take solace in the fact that my recommendations are outpacing the likes of San Francisco and Cincinnati (both of whom remain heavily owned in fantasy leagues). My kickers are another story. While they haven’t been bad so far, I expect them to put up numbers that would have them in the weekly top 10. Fortunately, there is still plenty of season left to play, and as previous seasons of “Stream Pies” have shown us, I save the best for last.

Team Defense (DEF) Recommendations

Week Six Recommendations
1 – Cleveland Browns vs. DET

Calvin Johnson is still not 100-percent, which means the Lions offense is a pretty wack unit. It sounds like Megatron will suit up for this game, but with no one else in Detroit’s receiving corps stepping up, it should be relatively easy for the Browns to zero in on the hobbled star WR without worrying up about giving up yards elsewhere. The Lions may opt to run it a lot in Week Six, but that won’t get them far against Cleveland. While the Browns have allowed six scores to RBs this season, they have been of the cheap variety. Cleveland is holding opposing backs to a scant 3.21 YPC (and that includes matchups against Adrian Peterson, Ray Rice, and Buffalo’s two-headed monster). I keep telling y’all not to sleep on Cleveland, but as long as they stay under 30-percent ownership, they’ll likely continue to find a home here on “Stream Pies.”

2 – Detroit Lions @CLE

Yes, I’m advocating both defenses in this game. It’s no secret that the Browns are trotting a horrible offense onto the field (sans Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron), but what really has me feeling the Lions is Detroit’s efficiency in defending in the red zone. Their defense has turned into a shutdown unit when opposing teams are within 20 yards of scoring, and considering the sloppy play of Brandon Weeden, the Lions should continue to keep the TDs at bay. The Lions DEF also has a couple of scores under their belt. Detroit has not been able to generate much of a pass-rush this season, but with the bumbling Weeden under center, they should be able to generate more pressure.
