Waiver Wire for Week 10

I just lost JStew, I need a free agent RB. Who’s good, son?

Flavors of the Week

Javarris James IND RB (3% owned) Edgerrin James’ cousin scored his first two Touchdowns of his career. Donald Brown received the majority of the workload, but the Colts used James near the goal line. Javarris will lose all his value when Addai or Mike Hart returns from injury, but there is little to no information about those situations as the Colts are usually tight-lipped when it comes to injuries. I don’t believe Addai will be back this week. Mike Hart? I’m guessing not, but we’ll have to keep an eye on the practices leading up to Week 10. Because Tuesday night is time for FAAB bids, we have to guess to what will happen. FAAB $6-$10 in deeper leagues

Bernard Berrian MIN WR (8% owned) Hey!!!! Berrian finally had a game with more than two catches! This had more to do with Randy Moss being released and matching up against the Arizona Cardinals than Berrian proving he’s a capable fantasy asset. MIN has a couple tough games on the schedule (CHI and GB) and Sidney Rice should be back within a few weeks so I would compare Berrian’s value to that of a Clay Matthews hair doll. FAAB $2-$6 in deeper leagues.

Seyi Ajirotutu HOU WR (5 % owned) 111 yards and 2 TD will make you a popular waiver wire grab. There’s only three problems: Malcom Floyd, Legedu Naanee and Vincent Jackson. All three should be back after the team’s Week 10 Bye (Week 11 for VJax), negating Seyi’s value. If you didn’t play him in Week 9, you missed the boat. FAAB $0

Jacoby Ford OAK WR (6% owned) Jacoby is another Flavor of the Week (148 yards receiving, Kickoff Return TD) who may not have much value going forward. Oakland has a Week 10 Bye and Louis Murphy (bruised lung) is expected back in Week 11. Unless Murphy has a set back or Darrius Heyward-Bey is pushed down the depth chart, Ford will only be relevant in leagues that reward Return Yardage. FAAB $0

Free Agents of Interest

Shaun Hill DET QB (7% owned) Matthew Stafford is down and out once again. Hill himself is dealing with a forearm injury, but should be back for Week 10 (at BUF). He served as the third string QB in Week 9. The match-up is juicy and Detroit throws the ball more than any other team in the league. In the five games in which Hill started earlier this season, he had two games with more than 300 yards and three games with multiple Touchdowns. FAAB $10-$16 depending on how bad you need a QB.

Sidney Rice MIN WR (48% owned) Sidney is off the PUP list and practicing. He’s likely a couple weeks away from returning, but he’s worth owning now and currently employed in less than half of Yahoo! leagues. It’s doubtful that he will be returning to full strength and this is not the Brett Favre of 2009 so don’t think you’re getting a Rd 3 value here. FAAB $8-$14

Mike Goodson CAR RB (4% owned) DeAngelo Williams is hurt, Jonathan Stewart is hurt, Tyrell Sutton is hurt, Matt Moore is hurt and all the Carolina fans’ feelings are hurt. Goodson didn’t do much damage against the Saints after the JStew injury, but he is effective in the pass game and may be the No.1 option against Tampa Bay if DWill and JStew can’t suit up. He should see some touches even if DWill makes it back from his foot injury. FAAB $7-$10

Nate Washington TEN WR (41% owned) As long as Kenny Britt is out, Washington should have plenty of opportunities to make a big play or three. The team will maintain their run first mentality, but the remaining schedule is great and Randy Moss will be drawing the attention of defenses. Not a bad play at your WR3 slot. FAAB $4-$6

Chester Taylor CHI RB (12% owned) Chester isn’t anything special and was a bad signing by the Bears. However, he is getting the goal line carries in Chicago so he has a little bit of value. FAAB $5-$7

Blair White IND WR (7% owned) Anthony Gonzalez is on the IR (his home away from home) and Austin Collie was taken off the field on a stretcher, injuries are a Fact of Life in the NFL. Yes, we’re going there. It’s Blair White time, at least for a few weeks in deeper leagues. FAAB $3-$5

Exploitable Match-ups for Week 10

David Garrard JAC QB (34% owned) He’s never the sexy option, but Garrard gets the job done. Just ask @PaulMBourdett about my championship run with Garrard at QB. Fresh off a bye week, “D to the G” gets a prime match-up against the HOU defense who allowed multiple Touchdowns to Seyi Ajirotuwho and George McMichael. If you want to double down on HOU, grab Mike Thomas (19% owned). FAAB $8-$10

Ryan Fitzpatrick BUF QB (55% owned) Fitzy isn’t maintaining the pace he set the world a fire with during his first four starts, but he’s been useful since then. This week he gets the Detroit Hello Kitties who just allowed Mark Sanchez to throw for his first 300-yard game of his career. FAAB $8-$10

Mark Sanchez NYJ QB (61% owned) Let the good times roll for Dirty Sanchez, he beat up on Detroit last week, gets Cleveland this week and Houston in Week 11. FAAB $10-$14
